About us
Our goal is to deepen the understanding of the social determinants that drive inequities in substance use, addiction, and related health outcomes across diverse populations.
Understanding the social epidemiology of substance use, addiction, and health inequities
We conduct high-quality studies to better understand and characterize psychosocial, policy, and structural factors that shape substance use behaviors and contribute to health inequities among youth, adults, and historically marginalized populations in the United States. Our research aims to deepen understanding of the social factors influencing substance use, misuse, and addiction, utilizing national and international data from large, population-based, repeated cross-sectional and longitudinal cohort studies to support our work.
Principal investigator mission
I envision a world where evidence-based research drives policies and interventions that eliminate inequities in substance use and addiction, fostering healthier and more equitable outcomes for youth, adults, and historically marginalized populations. As an assistant professor and principal investigator, I am honored to lead a research program dedicated to reducing these inequities through high-quality, interdisciplinary work and team science. I leverage my unique background, training, and personal experiences to equip my trainees and staff with the tools, guidance, and opportunities they need to learn, grow, and develop into successful independent scientists.
